On 14 June 1982, 40 years ago today, Argentine forces surrendered and returned the Falkland Islands to British control, ending the 74-day conflict. A total of 907 lost their lives and over 2,000 were wounded. Of the 907 that died, 255 were British servicemen, 649 were Argentine, and 3 were Falkland Island residents.
